Inside AAA is a blog series that provides readers the opportunity to get a glimpse of the people who work for you, the AAA member. In this series, staff members provide insight on their job and themselves.
This week, Inside AAA features Kathleen Terry-Sharp. She is AAA’s Director of Academic Relations and Practicing and Applied Programs.
What is your favorite on-the-job task?
Notifying the Minority Dissertation Fellow that they have received the award. It feels great to give someone good news that we know will help them finish their degree.
What is the most rewarding on-the-job moment?
I really look forward to catching up with the many AAA members that I’ve come to know over the years at the Annual Meeting. It is gratifying to see how much they appreciate and enjoy the various events we’ve developed together.
What is the most bizarre object in your office?
I have a “swinging Elvis” clock hanging on my wall that I’ve had since 1991 and “bobble heads” of several members of the Memphis Grizzlies NBA team (I was a fan before anyone knew they could actually play the game well!).
What is your favorite activity outside of work?
I love doing things with my 8-year-old daughter Vivi. We love to travel to see family in Kauai. In my spare time, I am a professional nature photographer.
