Dr. Lionel Thelen will direct a workshop on ERC funding opportunities for anthropologists conducting research in European Union member states and associated countries. The workshop is sponsored by the Society for the Anthropology of Europe.
Date: Thursday, November 17, 2011
Time: 7:30 pm – 8:45 pm
The ERC funding capability has increased each year, and the budget devoted to anthropology will augment from 2012 with the creation of two new funding schemes, ERC Synergy and ERC Proof of Concept. With grants up to $2.7 million for starting researchers, $4.75 million for advanced researchers, and $20 million for the new Synergy program, the ERC offers unprecedented funding opportunities for social scientists from all over the world.
What does the ERC funding programs have to offer anthropologists? What are the new programs available in 2011-2012? How do you get started with an application? How do you increase your chances of funding? How do you meet the ethical criteria in your proposal? What are the advantages of spending five years in a European host institution for U.S. and international scholars? These are some of the questions that will be addressed in the ERC workshop.
The workshop is open to all anthropologists proposing innovative research projects in the member states of the European Union or associated countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Iceland, Israel, Faroe Islands, Liechtenstein, FYR of Macedonia, Norway, Republic of Montenegro, Serbia, Switzerland, and Turkey).
Dr. Thelen will be available for the duration of the AAA meeting to answer your questions and can be reached at email@example.com.
